Does SACX® contain Bismuth? Doesn’t bismuth make the joints brittle?

Answer

  • Yes, there is a small amount of Bismuth in this alloy. No, quite the contrary, small amounts of bismuth (< 2%) improve the fatigue strength of the alloy. Pure Bismuth is a brittle metal and when alloyed with Sn at 42% Bi 58% this makes a very brittle alloy… this is where the fears come from.
